$12M award after funeral home lost her cremated remains

The daughter of a Mobile woman whose cremated remains were lost by a funeral home has been awarded $12 million, with the jury verdict coming nearly eight years after the death of her mother.

Shelley Hood was awarded the money after Pine Crest Funeral Home repeatedly told her they would be found. In December 2016, the general manager of the company finally told Hood that the remains had not been located and no record existed of where they might be.
