Mediation efforts in a $56 million lawsuit against the University of Utah were unsuccessful, attorney’s for Lauren McCluskey’s family announced on Wednesday.
Jill and Matt McCluskey filed a lawsuit against the school in June 2019, eight months after their daughter was shot and killed on campus by her ex-boyfriend. The McCluskey’s claim the university failed to protect their daughter, who had contacted campus police than 20 times in the days leading up to her death, and ignored her reports.
Jim McConkie and Brad Parker, attorneys for the McCluskey family, released a statement after mediation concluded:“Unfortunately, this week’s mediation with the University of Utah was not successful. We appreciate the opportunity to have had free and frank discussions with the University.
