Alabama Truck Driver Awarded $12 Million for On-the-Job Injuries

A judge awarded a Coffee County man $12,000,000 last week for on-the-job injuries he received, with that judgment coming after the trucking company named as defendant failed to respond to the lawsuit.

The allegations were that Kim Pearson Custom Hauling, LLC was negligent, which led to a rollover and injuries sustained by Joshua Lyerly, a Pearson truck driver who was hauling chickens to a poultry processing plant.

Lyerly’s medical bills from the March 1, 2023, accident totaled about six million dollars, said Cal Whaley, of the law firm Cherry and Irwin. Punitive damages were also awarded.
