Attorney General Seeks Criminal Charges for Violent Protesters in Georgia

Attorney General William P. Barr along with U.S. attorneys for the state will seek criminal charges for violent protestors.

According to a press release, Barr along with U.S. Attorney from northern, middle, and southern districts in Georgia are working with the FBI to form a Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) that will identify criminal organizers and instigators.

“The right to peaceful protest is protected by the First Amendment, but there is no cover for the violent, needless destruction of personal property, and the chaos we have witnessed across the country over the past several days. Let me be clear: anyone who chooses that criminal path will be aggressively prosecuted by our office,” said Charlie Peeler, U.S. Attorney for the Middle District.
