CEO Resigns and PG&E Files for Bankruptcy

The CEO of Pacific Gas and Electric, Geisha Williams, resigned and the utility will file for bankruptcy protection Monday, facing billions of dollars in liability for its role in California wildfires.

State fire investigators blamed the utility’s power lines for causing a number of California wildfires in October 2017.

Last week, U.S. District Judge William Alsup suggested that PG&E should re-inspect its entire electric grid and cut off power during certain wind conditions regardless of the inconvenience to customers or loss of profit.
