Court upholds $39M award to motorcyclist who lost 2 limbs

A student who was struck by drag racers, causing him to lose two limbs, will keep the $39 million awarded to him earlier this year, a judge ruled Friday.

Hussen Agiz, then a 19-year-old student at Middlesex County College, was riding his motorcycle in the Heller Industrial Park in Edison on July 12, 2012. He was seriously hurt when a drag racer hit him head-on, forcing the amputation of an arm and a leg.

“They permitted drag racing to go on over the years.”
