Whistleblower Lawsuit Alleges an Iowa Nursing Home Fired Aide for Reporting Abuse and Neglect

A dietary aide is suing an Iowa nursing home that she says fired her for reporting abuse and neglect to state officials who later verified her complaints.

Shyohnte Shetworth-Ware is suing West Des Moines’ Promedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she worked as a dietary aide from March 2022 to July 2022.

Since early 2023, the facility, at 5010 Grand Ridge Drive, has operated under the name Harmony West Des Moines. Before 2021, it was known as ManorCare Health Services of West Des Moines.
