A jury found Michael Gargiulo guilty Thursday in three knife attacks on young women, two of them fatal.
The 43-year-old dubbed the “Hollywood Ripper” was convicted of murder in the deaths of Ashley Ellerin, 22, and Maria Bruno, 32. He also was found guilty of attempting to kill Michelle Murphy, 26. All three attacks occurred in the Los Angeles area between 2001 and 2008.
The air conditioner repairman started his killing career in the 1990s in Chicago, when he was 17, authorities believe. Ellerin had been dating actor Ashton Kutcher at the time of her death in 2001, and the star testified at Gargiulo’s trial.
