Man Arrested for the Fatal Stabbing of His Grandfather

TWIN LAKES — Authorities said an 80-year-old man was found fatally stabbed in a Twin Lakes home Tuesday evening, and his grandson is suspected in his death.

The victim’s grandson, 28-year-old Phillip Talyansky, was arrested at the scene and booked on suspicion of murder, elder abuse and battery, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities responded to a reported stabbing about 6:43 p.m. Tuesday on the 700 block of Heath Cove in Twin Lakes, a coastal neighborhood in the greater Live Oak area of Santa Cruz County.

Inside the home, responders found the 80-year-old victim suffering from a stab wound to his neck. He was transported to Dominican Hospital, where the man was pronounced dead.
