Unlicensed NJ dentist sentenced in $2M health insurance fraud

A Roselle man working as an unlicensed dentist in New York was sentenced Friday to two years in federal prison in a health insurance fraud scheme that bilked more than $2 million from insurance providers.

Luis Omar Vargas was convicted following a two-week trial last year in the scam for billing false claims, billing for claims covering work he did as an unlicensed dentist and for conspiring to pay kickbacks to his patients.
