Experian, T-Mobile Settle Class Action Lawsuits for $16 Million

Experian and T-Mobile agreed to pay $16 million to resolve numerous lawsuits from state attorneys general over a 2015 data breach.

The settlement benefits consumers whose personal information was accessed by unauthorized individuals in a 2015 data breach involving both Experian and T-Mobile.

In September 2015, an unauthorized third party reportedly accessed the records of around 15 million people stored on Experian’s servers. The breach compromised the Social Security numbers and identity numbers of T-Mobile customers, including consumers who applied for service or device financing through the cellular company. Other information compromised in the breach includes names, addresses and birth dates.
