URI pharmacy professor resigns following conviction

An assistant pharmacy professor at the University of Rhode Island resigned her job after she was convicted of signing off on phony drug shipments. Michelle Caetano Thomas left her $105,597 post on May 6.

Caetano was convicted by a jury in Boston federal court May 3 for her role in approving fraudulent prescriptions for made-up patients like “Coco Puff,” “LL Bean” and “Filet O’ Fish.”
