Woman awarded $8.6 million after rear-end crash in 2015

A Massachusetts woman who was seriously injured four years ago in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 290 in Marlborough has been awarded $8.6 million in a related civil lawsuit.

Plaintiff Paula A. Appleton was a passenger in a Subaru Forester on Jan. 29, 2015 and in front of the car was a 2013 Volvo tractor-trailer.

A Chevrolet Silverado truck driven by Thomas L. Breault of Charlton, while in the course of his employment with Parvus Corp., was behind the Subaru and did not slow down, according to court records. The Silverado, traveling 63 mph and without braking, struck the rear of the Subaru, causing the Subaru to accelerate and collide with the rear of the tractor-trailer.
