$10M Settlement Reached in Suit by Unarmed Man Shot by Cherokee Indian Police

An unarmed man who was shot in his home by members of the Cherokee Indian Police SWAT team has reached a $10 million settlement with the parties named in a civil lawsuit.
Ellis Boyle, the attorney for Jason Harley Kloepfer, confirmed the settlement will be paid by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office. Boyle said the parties are finalizing the details, and he anticipates his client will sign the paperwork soon.
