$158 Million Awarded to the Family of a Kansas City Man Who Was Killed on Amtrak Train

The family of a Kansas City man who was shot and killed on an Amtrak train was awarded $158 million by a jury this week.

Richie T. Aaron of Independence, Missouri, was shot as the train arrived at the Lee’s Summit station on Jan. 14, 2022.

Following the shooting, his family filed a wrongful death suit, alleging Amtrak made “no effort” to get medical treatment for Aaron.
