$7.5M Settlement to Be Paid to Widow of Vancouver, Washington Police Officer Who Was Shot and Killed by a Sheriff’s Deputy

Clark County has granted a $7.5 million settlement to the widow of a Vancouver police officer who was shot and killed by a Clark County sheriff’s deputy.

The settlement was approved in a unanimous vote by the Clark County Council on Wednesday afternoon.

In January 2025, Dawnese Sahota, the widow of Donald Sahota, sued the county, alleging negligence by Clark County and a deputy in the death of her husband.
