A South Carolina Man Is Sentenced to 18 Years in Prison for Murder
A South Carolina man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for fatally shooting another man with whom he exchanged death threats on social media, officials said.
Brandon A. Arledge pleaded guilty Wednesday to voluntary manslaughter in the killing of 39-year-old Belton Dandy, according to a news release from the office of 7th Circuit Solicitor Barry Barnette.
It said the two Spartanburg men threatened to kill each other during Facebook Live videos in the weeks before the January 2019 shooting. When they crossed paths at an apartment complex, Arledge — who was on probation for an unrelated crime — was armed with a handgun in anticipation of a fight, according to the release.
