American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers File Lawsuits Against 10 Establishments for Music Copyright Violations

The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), is filing lawsuits against 10 establishments across the nation, including one in Greensboro, that they claim are “allowing unauthorized public performances of its members’ copyrighted musical works.” This includes the One Thirteen Brewhouse and Rooftop Bar located on North Greene Street in Greensboro.
The ASCAP said bars, brewhouses, and restaurants can obtain a license that will allow them to use the copyrighted music for less than $2 per day to play an unlimited amount of ASCAP members’ music.
