Babysitter Serving Life Sentence for a Toddler’s Death Has Murder Conviction Overturned by Georgia Supreme Court

A former Fulton County babysitter serving life in prison for a toddler’s death had her murder conviction overturned by the Georgia Supreme Court.
Maria Owens was sentenced to life in prison after prosecutors said she beat 11-month-old Jaylen Kelly to death in 2011.
The Georgia Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that the trial court gave the jury “erroneous and harmful” instruction.
