Capcom Settles a Copyright Lawsuit Over Resident Evil 4 and Devil May Cry
The complaint filed by Judy Juracek in 2021 alleged that Capcom used several photographs from a book she had published back in 1996 as assets in Resident Evil and Devil May Cry titles, as well as others. Roughly 80 images were said to have been used without permission. Some of the images were used for textures to help add detail to levels – the Resident Evil 4 logo also allegedly uses a texture from Juracek’s book.
At the time of filing, the plaintiff was seeking up to $12 million USD in damages. Now, as reported by Polygon, the lawsuit has been “amicably resolved” and a dismissal has been filed to put an end to the lawsuit.
