City of Buffalo, NY Expected to Approve a $43 Million Settlement for Woman Left Paralyzed From Police Car Crash
The City of Buffalo is expected to approve a $43 million settlement to a woman who was paralyzed from the neck down in 2020 after being struck by a police SUV responding to a 911.
The settlement will pay for Chelsea Ellis’ pain and suffering, lost wages and what it will cost to care for her the rest of her life.
It is the among the largest settlements paid out by the city, according to the Law Department.
“Since I’ve been on the Council it’s been the largest,” said Buffalo Common Council Member Ulysees O. Wingo Sr.
