City of Los Angeles Seeks Dismissal of Gender Pay Disparity Lawsuit Filed by Attorney

The city of Los Angeles is currently facing a lawsuit filed by deputy city attorney Karen Majovski, who claims unequal pay for women. The city, however, is seeking to have the case dismissed, arguing that Majovski did not possess the same skills as her higher-paid female colleagues.

Majovski’s lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleges violations of equal pay, gender discrimination, retaliation, and failure to prevent discrimination, retaliation, and harassment. She has joined forces with other women in her office who also believe they are experiencing pay disparities.

In response to the dismissal motion, filed by defense attorneys on behalf of the city, they argue that Majovski’s claims hold no merit. They contend that she did not possess comparable skills and responsibilities to the higher-paid deputy city attorneys, most of whom were women.
