Clif Bar Reaches $12 Million Settlement in Lawsuit

Popular among hikers, climbers and hangry city dwellers, Clif Bars promise filling, convenient, nutritious snack foods—but a recent lawsuit alleged that the health claims on the labels are misleading. On bars for adults and children, the company boasts about protein, fiber and fat, but doesn’t disclose the significant amount of added sugar. A class action lawsuit, Ralph Milan et al. v. Clif Bar & Co., accused the company of misleading customers about the bars’ nutritional value.
Though Clif Bar denies the accusations, they have agreed to settle the lawsuit, and will pay out $12 million to consumers.
