Two of the Men Convicted in the Ahmaud Arbery Case Reach Plea Deals

Prosecutors have reached a plea deal on federal hate crimes charges for two of the three men convicted of murdering Ahmaud Arbery, according to court documents the U.S. attorneys filed late Sunday. They submitted a notice of two plea agreements for Gregory McMichael and his son Travis McMichael to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District in Georgia, but the details of the agreements are not yet public.

In its notices to the court, the Department of Justice asks that the charges against the McMichaels be disposed of. Kristen Clarke, the assistant attorney general for civil rights, co-signed the letter with U.S. Attorney David Estes and three other Justice Department attorneys.
