Detroit City Council Approves a $2.75 Million Settlement to Man Injured During Police Crash
The Detroit City Council on Tuesday approved a $2.75 million settlement to a man who was injured during a crash while handcuffed in the back of a Detroit Police vehicle in 2022.
The incident occurred on March 14, 2022, when Xavier Cramatie was arrested in Macomb County due to outstanding traffic violations. The crash occurred as he was transferred by Detroit Police from Macomb County Jail to the Detroit Detention Center.
City officials and council members declined to comment on the settlement.
