Ex-Student Sues College of Charleston, Fraternity for $10 Million Over Alleged Hazing

A former College of Charleston student and his family have filed a lawsuit against the school, the Iota Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Chi fraternity, and senior members of the fraternity over alleged hazing incidents.

Lawyers for Jaxson Lovelace and his family filed the lawsuit in the Charleston County Court of Common Pleas.

In Spring 2023, Jaxson participated in fraternity rush his freshman year and received a bid from Sigma Chi Fraternity on Feb. 4, making him a pledge. The lawsuit describes Jaxson as an avid lacrosse player, outgoing and confident during this time.
