Family of Former University of Tennessee Basketball Player Reach $1.1M Settlement Following His Death in Police Custody

The family of a former University of Tennessee baseball player has reached a civil rights settlement following his death in police custody three years ago.
Court records show the City of Bristol has agreed to pay $1.1 million to the family of 37-year-old Brian Bibee. The lawsuit, filed in 2024 by Bibeeās parents, claimed officers failed to contact EMS or give Narcan to him during an opioid overdose back in 2023.
