Former Ohio State Football Star Kirk Barton Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison Following Fatal Car Crash

Former Ohio State football star Kirk Barton was sentenced to at least five years in prison Wednesday, following his guilty plea in connection with a fatal crash in Dublin last year.

Barton, 41, pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated vehicular homicide, a second-degree felony, after Dublin police say he was under the influence when he collided with 24-year-old Ethan Perry’s vehicle in June 2025.

During the arrest, Barton was unable to answer basic questions and later admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages, police said.
