A New Jersey Man Wins $1.1 Million Settlement in Motorcycle Crash Lawsuit

A Kearny motorcyclist who was seriously injured in a crash in 2019 has received more than $1 million in a settlement, New Jersey Law Journal reported.

The $1.1. million settlement, reached last month, was the result of a lawsuit filed in Hudson County Superior Court in July 2019, a month after the crash. The lawsuit said Kelvin Perez, now 25, was riding his motorcycle north on the Route 17 loop in Lyndhurst on June 23, 2019 when Cesar Mejia of North Bergen, “carelessly” struck him.

As a result of the crash, Perez “was severely and permanently injured; has been caused and in the future will be caused great pain and suffering; … has been disabled and will in the future to continue to be disabled,” the lawsuit said.
