Luigi Mangione pleaded guilty on Friday to federal stalking charges stemming from the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in midtown Manhattan two years ago, a development that comes just weeks before his state trial is slated to begin.
Mangione entered the plea during a pretrial conference before U.S. District Judge Margaret Garnett that was hastily scheduled this week at the request of prosecutors and his defense team.
