New Jersey Sues Operator of Delaney Hall Immigration Detention Center for Access to Inspect Facility

New Jersey is suing the private operator of an immigration detention center, arguing that the state health department has not been allowed to inspect the facility amid allegations of unsanitary conditions and poor treatment of detainees.

The lawsuit filed Tuesday in Superior Court in Essex County asks a judge to grant the New Jersey Department of Health “immediate entry” to Delaney Hall, a former halfway house owned and operated by The GEO Group in Newark, N.J., for a full inspection.
