Biden Says the U.S. Will ‘Respond Decisively’ If Russia Invades Ukraine
President Biden told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday that the U.S. and its allies will “respond decisively” if Russia again invades the so-called Donbas region in southeastern Ukraine.
In a statement, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said the leaders “expressed support for diplomatic efforts,” adding that Biden “made clear that the United States and its allies and partners will respond decisively if Russia further invades Ukraine. “
She noted ongoing diplomatic efforts including the bilateral Strategic Stability Dialogue between the U.S. and Russia, as well as discussions through the NATO-Russia Council and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
