Oklahoma AG Secures $44M Settlement to Resolve 21-Year Old Lawsuit Over Poultry Litter Pollution

Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond announced that the state has reached a $44 million settlement to resolve a 21-year lawsuit against six companies over poultry litter pollution in the Illinois River Watershed.
In 2005, Oklahoma sued Tyson Foods, Cargill, George’s, Peterson Farms, Cal-Maine, and Simmons Foods. This past December, a federal judge found all six liable and later rejected a settlement with four of the six companies.
