Biden Meets With Asian-American Lawmakers to Discuss Hate Crimes and Representation
President Biden praised a Senate bill dealing with pandemic-era hate crimes as he met with Asian-American members of Congress, who said they pushed him for more federal action to counter discrimination and inequities facing Asian-American communities.
Mr. Biden said he was “heartened” by overwhelming support in the Senate during a procedural vote on the bill, which would expedite the Justice Department’s review of hate crimes related to the pandemic, amid an increase in anti-Asian violence since 2019.
