Pence and Biden Will Receive the COVID-19 Vaccine to Build Public Support
Vice President Pence and President-elect Joe Biden will receive the vaccine for the novel coronavirus publicly as part of an effort by officials to build public confidence in the critical shot.
Pence, who has headed the White House coronavirus task force, second lady Karen Pence and Surgeon General Jerome Adams are set to be vaccinated publicly at the White House Friday. The vice president will become the most high-profile person yet to publicly receive the vaccine.
“Be confident that we have cut red tape, but we’ve cut no corners when it comes to the development of this vaccine,” Pence said during a roundtable discussion in Indiana Tuesday. “I look forward in the days ahead to receiving the vaccine myself and do so without hesitation.”
Meanwhile, Biden is planning to publicly take the vaccine as soon as next week.
