Manager Sues Restaurant Claiming She Was Fired After Asking for Additional Security, COVID Masks While Pregnant

A New Jersey restaurant employee who asked for additional masks for COVID-19 and additional security in her workplace claims in a lawsuit she was fired as retaliation while out on maternity leave.

Daelasky Roman, 30, of Lodi, was hired by the Montclair Hospitality Group in March 2021 to work as a floor manager at Ani Ramen House in Maplewood, according to the suit filed last month in Superior Court of Union County.

Montclair Hospitality Group, which owns several restaurant brands, transferred Roman to Ani Ramen’s New Brunswick location in July 2021. A short time later, she was accosted by an intoxicated patron who struck her in the face and returned the next day to harass her, she said.
