Prosecutors Request 14-Year Prison Sentence in Tom Girardi Fraud Case
Federal prosecutors said they are seeking a 14-year prison sentence for disbarred California attorney Tom Girardi after he was charged with stealing millions of dollars in client funds and convicted of wire fraud in August.
While acknowledging he is 85 and has “some cognitive impairment,” prosecutors argued in a sentencing memo filed Friday in Los Angeles federal court that Girardi should receive a “significant custodial sentence” in federal prison.
