Queens University and Elon University Announce Plans for Merger, Bringing Together Two North Carolina Institutions

In a landmark announcement for North Carolina’s higher education landscape, Queens University of Charlotte and Elon University revealed plans for a collaborative merger during a news conference Tuesday morning, marking what officials called a “historic day” for the region.

Queens University Acting President Jesse Cureton announced the agreement, describing it as a decision “grounded in the vision that is bold and amplifies the strengths of both universities.”

The merger received unanimous support from both universities’ boards of trustees.
