Tech Company Metabyte Files a U.S. Trademark Lawsuit Against Meta Platforms

Meta Platforms, previously known as Facebook, was sued on Friday by California-based tech services company Metabyte, which accused the social media giant of trademark rights violation.

Metabyte said in the complaint that Meta’s rebranding would cause confusion for consumers, as both companies offer similar services in overlapping geographic regions.

The California-based company urged the court to block Meta Platforms from using the “Meta” name, asking for an undisclosed amount of money damages.
