Tennessee Aquarium Sued for Alleged Racial Discrimination Against Former Job Applicants
Three former applicants for the position of community engagement educator have sued the Tennessee Aquarium for alleged racial discrimination.
The lawsuit, which did not specify a monetary amount sought for compensation, is asking a jury to compensate the former applicants, who are white, for their “pain, suffering, and embarrassment.”
The plaintiffs — Timothy Shawn Gunn, Marni Renee Pearce and Zachary Chance Taylor — claim the aquarium listed a job posting in October 2021 that required the applicant to be of a minority group or identify as a member of a minority group, according to the lawsuit filed April 28 at the Chancery Court of Hamilton County.
