Three Former South Carolina Teachers File Federal Discrimination Lawsuit
Three former Colleton County School District teachers have filed a federal lawsuit against the district, claiming racial and age discrimination. The three teachers are all white women over the age of 50.
They claim an African-American woman became their principal at their school following the 2020 school year, claiming she was discriminatory and hostile toward this group of older women.
The primary plaintiff, Melanie Ritter, filed an equal employment opportunity commission complaint against the district first. The EEOC found her complaint justified in the lawsuit and gave her leave to pursue the federal lawsuit.
