Virginia International Terminals to Settle Disability Discrimination Lawsuit for $20K

Norfolk-based Virginia International Terminals, LLC (VIT) will pay $20,000 and provide other relief to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced Wednesday.
The lawsuit alleged that a VIT employee who drove a hustler truck at Norfolk International Terminals was barred from returning to his position after a cardiac event and the implantation of a defibrillator, despite receiving a medical release. Instead, the company offered him lower-paying work.
