Water Slide Manufacturer Accuses Rival of Systematic Infringement of Patent Rights

A water slide manufacturer is suing another ride builder over allegations it stole designs for water rides built at Aquatica Orlando, Tampa’s Adventure Island, and other parks.

ProSlide Technology filed a federal lawsuit this month against WhiteWater West Industries, accusing the company of “systematic infringement of ProSlide’s valuable patent rights” on water slide technology.

The lawsuits seek unspecified damages, as well as an order requiring WhiteWater to pay ProSlide for the profits made on three of its water rides and to stop selling the rides that ProSlides believes, are derived from its technology.

“The tremendous popularity and commercial success of ProSlide’s patented … technology has spawned imitators. Chief among these has been WhiteWater, which has been busy copying ProSlide’s … design to sell knockoff saucer waterslides,” the lawsuit said.
