Wisconsin Man Pleads Guilty to Sex Crimes, Later Becomes Murder Suspect in Killing of Ex-Girlfriend

Ten days before someone shot Nikia Rogers and burned her house and body, her ex-boyfriend, the man suspected in the killing, pleaded guilty in a child sex assault, but a judge’s ruling allowed the man to avoid being sent straight to jail, court records show.

A review of Wisconsin Circuit Court Access, known commonly as CCAP, shows on August 15, Ernest Blakney changed his plea to guilty in the 2020 rape of a 13-year-old girl.

During his plea hearing this month, the online records show the prosecutor in the case requested remand or the immediate jailing of Blakney before sentencing.
