Wisconsin Nurse Sentenced to 18 Months in Prison After Engaging in Sexual Intercourse with Drug Court Patient

Monroe County District Attorney Kevin D. Croninger announced that Melissa R. Knutson, a nurse from Readstown, Wisconsin, has been sentenced to prison.

On February 27, 2026, Judge Paul Curran found Knutson guilty of misconduct in public office and obstructing an officer.

Judge Curran sentenced Knutson to 18 months in prison and two years of extended supervision for the misconduct charge. She also received a concurrent 180-day jail sentence for obstructing an officer.
