Woman Files Lawsuit Against Company Claiming She Suffered Injuries from Chocolate Factory Explosion

A woman who lives next door to the R.M. Palmer Company has filed a lawsuit against the company, claiming she was injured when the company’s West Reading chocolate factory exploded on March 24.

According to a notice of claim filed by the woman’s attorney, the explosion caused the woman to be lifted from her feet and blown across the room, causing severe and permanent injuries, which according to the complaint, include injuries to her hips, back, and legs.

The complaint alleges the chocolate company failed to warn the woman of any potential hazards and allegedly “failed to properly inspect, repair, and/or test the property to prevent this catastrophic explosion.”
