$15.4 Million Was Awarded to a Meriden Family After a Medical Procedure Led to a Woman’s Death.

A jury in New Haven has awarded the family of a Meriden woman who died following a medical procedure $15.4 million in damages due to the botched anesthesia care she received, according to the family’s attorney.
Maria Ocasio, 57, died in 2017 after the doctors overseeing her anesthesia care failed to recognize that she had suffered a cardiorespiratory collapse during a brief outpatient procedure at MidState Medical Center, said Kathleen Nastri, an attorney for the Ocasio family, in a statement.
