Appeal Filed by Topeka Police Captain in Gender Based Discrimination Lawsuit

A Topeka police captain has appealed her dismissal from a gender discrimination lawsuit against the city.

Jennifer Cross with the Topeka Police Department sued the City of Topeka in 2024, alleging that it discriminates against its female officers which creates a hostile work environment.

A federal judge dismissed Cross’s claims before the trial began for her discrimination case. However, Cross filed an appeal for the suit on May 20, asking the dismissal to be reversed.
