Batten University Completes Acquisition of Sentara College of Health Sciences, Expanding Opportunities for Students in Healthcare

Batten University has officially acquired Sentara College of Health Sciences after receiving approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) on June 11, 2026.

The change took effect July 1, when Sentara College became an operating division of Batten University. Leaders say the move will expand opportunities for students pursuing careers in nursing and health sciences while helping address ongoing healthcare workforce shortages in Coastal Virginia.
