Booth Law Secures $4.8 Million Settlement in Case Alleging Two California Counties Failed to Protect Abused Child

Carly L. Sanchez of Booth Law secured a $4.8 million settlement on behalf of J.C., a minor, in a case against Riverside County and San Bernardino County alleging they failed to intervene despite repeated reports that J.C. was being abused by her biological mother. According to the case submission, San Bernardino County received seven referrals alleging abuse and neglect, while Riverside County received J.C. into foster care before returning her to her mother’s care. J.C. continued to experience abuse, sustaining significant injuries, including vision loss in her right eye, permanent scarring, multiple fractures, and emotional and psychological damage. The case was filed in Riverside Superior Court.
